Review of Fireproof (2008) by Joyce C — 21 Oct 2009
This movie was really really good. It seemed so lifelike too. Maybe some of it was fake, but it seemed pretty real to me. For being like one of those Christian type films, it's got to be one of the best I've ever seen.
It was so good, I'm pretty sure I cried two or three times, ok at least once for sure. The main guy made me think a lot about my dad because my dad really yells like this guy does and doesn't think at all about how much he's hurting anyone with what he says.
When he gets mad, he's thinking of himself or just taking out the bad things on others. This was also a very cute couple, character wise in the movie. I was so happy that they both moved on. It was so sweet, but you know what I realized about this movie, the wife had just as many faults as he did, just in different ways.
I mean she was even thinking about this doctor a little too much, to the point where I thought she might be close to cheating on her husband. It was pretty sad. I was so shocked though about a few things.
I was shocked that the doctor that the wife was into was married himself! How shameful to be hitting on the young ladies at his work! And I was also shocked that the dad was the one who wanted to leave the mom and not the other way around like they wanted you to think.
I was also slightly shocked but mostly just pleased that the husband kept going, even after the last days of the book. The audience could tell that it was very hard for him, but it saved his marriage and even helped his control/anger problem quite a bit.
This was a wonderful movie, it was so touching and heart-felt.
