Review of Fired Up! (2009) by Jesús G — 13 May 2011
Okay, so it doesn't take a genius to figure out that this isn't a good movie. In fact, as work of cinema, it's awful. The characters are beyond shallow (not to mention lacking in the wit department), the humor relies on platitudes and endless parades of incessant insults, and pretty much every plot element is predictable (its premise alone -- two football players who go to cheer camp to score babes -- should set off some cliche warnings).
Nonetheless, it made me laugh. And any movie that can make me laugh, chuckle, or smile -- while still being that horrible -- deserves a watch. The attractive actors and the romance should be of some enjoyment to members of the audience, sure. But for me, it was the little moments of comedy gold or quirky laughs that made the horrible quality of the movie easy to overlook.
