Review of Fire Dragon (1983) by Adriano B — 01 Jul 2011
An excellent period piece due to the compelling plot. Brigitte Lin plays Fire Dragon, a powerful fire wielding assassin. Her allegiance to an evil Prince begins to waver when she goes undercover to retrieve a letter that could incriminate the prince.
Filmed with style and sweeping camera shots, the movie has great camera work. It flow nicely and allows Woo Ping Yuen's choreographed fights to breathe.
The characters are all developed nicely and each has their own motivation. By the time the development is finished, the stakes are pushed to the limit with a fantastic fiery and frantic three way sword fight in a field. The field is full of giant wine jars, and it makes for literally an explosive climax.
A must see for any weapon wielding fight scene fanatics.
