Review of Fire and Ice (1983) by Daniel B — 27 Dec 2007
Bakshi brings Frazetta to life. Tho reviled by many animators I know for his use of Rotoscoping, I can't help but think of how similar in concept the current use of live-action digital puppeteering is to it.
Between his efforts on the Spider-man cartoon , and Rocket Robinhood, Bakshi was a huge influence on me getting into drawing at a very young age. Fire and Ice is classic sword and sorcery in the vein of Conan.
Pulpy and enjoyable, I wish it could have lasted longer or had sequels.
