Review of Finn's Girl (2007) by Nancy H. F — 22 Jul 2011
Overall very good effort and good job by the crew, director and actors of this little Indy film..Dr. Finn Jefferies (Brooke Johnson) was in a long term relationship and raising a child with her partner Nancy but Nancy passes away from breast cancer. So she is left behind to care for their daughter Zelly played by Maya Ritter and continue working at the abortion clinic. She receives death threats and consumed by her work and by a rebound fling with a much younger woman, Dr. Finn is oblivious to Zelly's latest attention-seeking anticsâ"â"shoplifting, smoking dope and skipping school.
Dr. Finn's emotional and professional struggles are continually underscored by the amusing misadventures of Zelly and her best friends Eve and Max. As the trio of kids grapple with their emerging sexualities, Zelly finally discovers the astonishing identity of her true biological parents. This is a thought provoking film with a very surprising ending that will leave you speechless (in a positive way definitely). Added to my private collection and recommended!
