Review of Finding Vivian Maier (2014) by Mason G — 04 May 2014
Fascinating portrait of an unrecognized amateur photographer, whose day job as a Chicago area nanny in the 1950's-70s gave her a streets-eye view of wealth, poverty and the whole range of the urban human condition.
Having lived and died something of a recluse, thousands of her photographs were recently unearthed in a storage auction, leading to her growing posthumous status in the art world. Anyone fond of photography, Chicago or other urban zones, or just portraits of eccentric artists should definitely see this.
