Review of Finding Nemo (2003) by Amasa G — 25 Oct 2016
Not just another kids flick. This movie explores a territory that everyone still largely fears. And not just the ocean.
It explores how fatherhood can sometimes be a new youth. It shows the mistakes that a lot of new parents can make in trying to control their young ones and the scary and hard world that make the parents feel the need. It destroys gender roles in the absence of another, it shatters the walls of separation between those who don't look and live like you do, it sifts through stereotypes, it creates a world where there is only an ocean and no nations, no politics, no societies but those of the friends and the enemies that we share it all with.
This movie perfects the art of being a mirror.
