Review of Finding Forrester (2000) by James B — 28 Feb 2009
This was a surprising success. It's undeniable that the conceit runs parallel to that of previous Gus Van Sant victory Good Will Hunting. Essentially, this one boils down to Good Will Hunting with a black kid and literature.
But Van Sant - even in utter failures like Last Days - is always visually entertaining. And Connery is magnetic in the role of the curmudgeonly J.D. Salinger type.
Eat that, Connery's character - two sentences beginning with conjunctions.
