Review of Find Me Guilty (2006) by Nicholas M — 27 Apr 2008
Could have been a lot better. It was interesting to see Vin Diesel in role with hair and a lack of weapons. He plays a great Italian, and Peter Dinklage does his attorney really well. All in all, what Lumet has created here is pointless.
The film is devoid of all drama and suspense a courtroom/trial drama should have. He also doesn't know if he's shooting a comedy or a drama, so the end result is really sloppy. It was pretty comical to see a courtroom with 20 defendants.
This was like Boston Legal: The Movie, but Boston Legal's mix of comedy and drama is good for short bursts. I respect Lumet as a director (I loved 'Before The Devil..., ' 'Dog Day Afternoon,' and I'm yearning to see 'Network), but this falls quite a bit short.
