Review of Find Me Guilty (2006) by Aaron T — 12 Aug 2008
Vin Diesel can act! Who knew?
I think one of the main strengths of the whole film is its ambiguity. The mobsters on trial are truly terrible people. Drug runners, money launderers, murderers, classic Goodfellas crimes, and yet they (or more specifically Jackie) are put on trial for all of these things and yet they are the protagonists. As a result there are mixed messages about how you should feel about the characters, but I think it's overall more of a statement about the judicial and correctional systems.
Vin Diesel puts in the best performance of his life here! There wasn't a second that I didn't get into his character and his ups and downs. It takes a lot to not once make the audience aware of the fact that it's a performance. The other characters were all interesting too, but it all comes full circle to Jackie and how the various characters affect him.
The film is very entertaining, very funny, and it's an awful lot of fun to watch Jackie make a complete mockery of the judicial system.
