Review of Final Girl (2015) by Duke_Nukem — 10 Oct 2015
The movie has an interesting premise, Abigail Breslin is a good and pretty actress and her mentor Wes Bentley... has a nice face.
I like the setting in the sixties, The sober style of the movie is rather cool. But once the 4 killers and Abigail get to the forest the whole story gets boring and stupid.
Nothing is been told about what happened to Abigail's parents, there is no explanation about the motive of the killers' behavior and what is really the reason for her mentor to train a small girl in fighting and surviving to kill those guys in particular? Or is she a weapon that will be used against many criminals and killers? Wouldn't it be easier to just shoot them himself? And who is he anyway, is he working for the police or just a freelance problem solver?
Also the hallucinations of the killers after being drugged are not very interesting or scary. The whole chase in the forest is dull and the fights are silly. Only the last fight with the leader of the killers is a little better. It was funny when he proposed to Abigail to marry and... kill people.
I rate this movie a score of 4 out of 10 (3 points for the acting of Abigail Breslin and 1 point for the couch in the forest).
