Gorgeous visuals more than made up for my lack of knowledge of the video game series, and after a bit of a cat and mouse info dump in the first hour, the latter half of the film is almost wall to wall eye candy. The animation is amazing, and very well suited to the larger than life subject matter.
Give it a rental, at the very least,.
