Review of Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within (2001) by Brandon V — 05 Jan 2009
When this movie came out in the theater the girl I was dating at the time got so upset because she said movies like this are gonna put actors out of work. I argued that someone has to actually do the acting through their voices, actors have been doing voice over since the days of radio.
Now with all the live action and advances in special effects who knows if they'll be able to make voices with emotion and inflections that of real people but I doubt that they will take the human element out of movies completely.
There would be nothing to connect the viewer with the entertainment. This movie was stunning and to think that an alien spirit could travel over vast distances in space to haunt us here on Earth is fantastic to say the least.
