Review of Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within (2001) by Bobby L — 26 Nov 2009
Why this is called "Final Fantasy" is beyond me, so do not expect any sort of relation to any of the games (save for a character named Sid). As sci-fi, it's pretty solid, depite the cliches, but as a visual eye-cany, this movie is marvelous.
Turn it on mute and just look at how damned pretty everything is, and how life like the humans are, and the detail in everything is. Seriously, this are some of the best animated visuals I have ever witnessed, too bad the story isn't quite as storng, plus it's weird to see a CGI Ben Affleck talk with the voice of Alec Baldwin.
