Review of Final Destination 5 (2011) by Brett M — 06 May 2012
Definitely the best of the franchise -- and for reasons regarding its depth and (relative) maturity in comparison to all the other installments. The characters are (for the most part) less caricatures and more genuine, and this film is the first in the series to propose to said characters a particular moral conundrum that I've long been shocked no prior Final Destination movie had exploited.
FD5's main strength over serials 1-4 is simple: it's smarter/more thoughtfully executed. It's also just really fun -- certainly fun enough to warrant a recommendation regardless of its surprising introspection.
