Review of Final Destination 5 (2011) by John W — 26 Feb 2012
A new cast, a new vision, a new disaster, temporarily, averted. After 5 FD films, it's getting harder to come up with new material and it shows. This is still a good entry in the series though with some nods to the prior films and they do manage a few surprises - no spoiler, but a great ending! Tony Todd is back, which is a definite plus.
He conveys restrained threat just by moving through the frame. I do like the FD franchise, but I don't expect too much from them - it's like watching Rube Goldberg setup the most convoluted chain of events possible for a character to end up spectacularly dead.
Great fun, but way, way out there.
