Review of Final Destination 3 (2006) by Samia C — 23 Feb 2013
Final Destination 3 is probably the third best in the series and it is totally an impressive movie that can satisfy the fans of the Final Destination series. The plot of this film is the same thing as always.
This movie is about Wendy a young woman who has a premonition that the roller coaster is gonna crash and after she managed to save several people she soon learns that death is still after her and the rest of the group who she saved and soon she learns that all those people she saved are dying in order shown through the photographs she took and Wendy must find a way to save her friends before she becomes death's next victim.
I seriously love this movie and I totally enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed its two predecessors. I have to admit that it may not be as over the top as Final Destination 2 but I adore the whole movie because this film has everything that the fans want for a Final Destination film.
What's great about Final Destination 3 is that the whole film has a lot of dark humor and I also like how they borrowed elements from the 1976 Horror film The Omen where the audience learn how the person is going to die through the photographs and I totally love the way they did that idea and I just like how the original Final Destination crew that is Director James Wong and Writer Glen Morgan came up with such a brilliant idea on the concept of death in the third film and these two are seriously smart with all of the ideas in this film when comparing to their work on the first Final Destination film and I love their ideas overall in this movie.
What I also like about Final Destination 3 is that the whole film has a lot of suspenceful and intense scenes. The Roller Coaster crash in the opening scene is just wonderful and full of unexpected turns.
The third half of the film is totally mind blowing and electrifying and the finale is just excellent and well executed. What I also like about this film is that the whole movie is full of kills and the kills are totally well executed in here and some of them are totally brutal and nasty and although the kills are not as over the top as its predecessor but I like how all of the kills are inventive in this movie.
There are lots of gory and suspenceful kills in this movie. The Roller Coaster crash is totally the most suspenceful opening accident scene in the film. The Sun Tanning bed scene is the most gruesome death scene in the film.
The drive thru casualty is probably the goriest death scene in this movie. The gymnastic death scene is probably the most unexpected and the most brutal death scene in the film. The nail gun scene is the most gruesome death scene in the film next to the sun tanning bed death scene.
The flag impalement scene is probably the most gruesome death scene in the film. Ian McKinley's death where he gets crushed by a sign at the tricentennial festival is probably the goriest death scene in the film next to the drive thru casualty scene in the film and the subway massacre is probably the most intense kill scene in the whole film.
What I also like about this movie is the soundtrack from the amazing Shirley Walker who also composed for the first two Final Destination films and I totally like her soundtrack this time because the soundtrack in this film is much more darker than the first two.
In the first film the soundtrack is just unique and impressive. In Part two the soundtrack is totally over the top and here Shirley Walker managed to make a lot of songs that are brooding and very dark at the exact same time and I adore the soundtrack of Shirley Walker in all three films so far.
I just felt bad that Shirley Walker died after Final Destination 3 and Brian Tyler took over for the next Final Destination films. Now the acting is great the performances of the casts did a really good job with their work in the whole movie.
Mary Elizabeth Winstead did a wonderful job with her work in the film as the protagonist Wendy and hse's a lot more better than A.J. Cook's character she's much more compelling and stronger and she's super gorgeous and super pretty at the exact same time.
Ryan Merriman did a good job with his work as the second protagonist Kevin and the rest also did a wonderful job with their work in the film so far. Final Destination series creators James Wong and Glen Morgan totally did a good job with their work in the whole movie and I seriously like how they nailed they're work on this film and I'm totally surprised and amazed with their work in this movie and I hope these two will still make more good Horror films in the future as well and I'm willing to see that.
Overall Final Destination 3 gets a 10/10 because I enjoyed this film as much as I enjoyed its two predecessors and this is totally a surprising film and its just as good as its two predecessors.
