Review of Final Destination 3 (2006) by Uditha D — 31 Dec 2011
With each and every passing sequel, a series installment generally always gets just as horrible, standard and morose as its forerunner. Although there are exceptions to the rule, this film was definitely not.
Although in fairness I felt that Final Destination 3 had much less shock effects and computer graphics than its immediate predecessor, still it was in terrible need of a proper structure. However, I think that it delved pretty well into the death scenes depicted in it: the tortuously meticulous, down-to-the-point synchronized events leading up to the final death were accurately and admirably (and in the case of Ashly and Ashlyn's deaths at the tanning spa, disturbingly) shown.
But one thing I noticed here, as with its predecessor too: it was precisely those death scenes which DIDN'T involve any artificial graphics that genuinely evoked fear. I feel that this was the main strength behind the first installment of the franchise.
With Final Destination 3, that was simply not there, but it was a definite improvement on its predecessor at any rate.
