Review of Final Destination (2000) by Iowa B — 13 Nov 2010
I have found actual proof that a frighteningly great concept does not alone make a great movie. A group of high school seniors and their teacher have cheated the system, so to speak, by escaping from a situation that would have led to their certain death.
Consequently, for messing up his plans, Death has it out for each student with some wildly creative booby traps. That sounds like it could be chilling and tense, but the acting is quite poor, the dialogue doesnâ(TM)t ring true, and the storylines are predictable.
I especially disliked K.Smithâ(TM)s aggressive jock and Clokeâ(TM)s teacher mostly due to their reaction to the tragic events and to the student who tried to save everyoneâ(TM)s life.
