Review of Final Destination (2000) by Don S — 15 Jul 2011

Decent movie. Although no explanation is ever given as to how, a teen gets a premonition by way of a dream that the plane he is on is going to blow up. The scene in his dream is probably the best scene of the movie, and it comes very near the beginning. This premonition directly leads to several other teens (plus one adult - Kristen Cloke, loved her in Space: Above and Beyond) getting off the plane and thereby saving their lives. The rest of the movie chronicles how these people who cheated death are now being supernaturally hounded and bound for an early grave. The storyline is interesting, but the death scenes are nothing out of the ordinary. The acting is underwhelming as well. I'm hard-pressed to figure out how this mediocre film, though slightly enjoyable, has spawned 3 sequels. It just wasn't that original or engrossing. Worth watching once to see how this series began.
