Review of Final Destination (2000) by Vuk S — 05 Jan 2014
This is a movie which started off as a recycled screenplay for an X-Files episode, and being a huge fan of the show I could pretty much see how Mulder and Scully would fit into the plot. Setting that aside, as a horror movie this worked out quite well.
It introduced something not yet seen, namely the main villain not being a monster, a killer or anything of that nature, but just death itself, and a series of over-the-top coincidences which would in some way end a person's life or mutilate their body.
A fine idea which could be played with in countless ways, thus a whole franchise was born, which reminds me much of the Saw franchise due to the irony and nature of the characters' deaths.
