Review of Final Destination 2 (2003) by Jonny B — 10 Aug 2011
'Final Destination 2' has more elaborate set ups and death scenes than the original. It's a bloody and fun movie and that's all one can ask of these movies.
I do have problems with the sequel. The characters are either uninteresting, cliche, thinly developed, annoying, dumb, or a cut-out of what was to be a character and this is both good and bad. It's good because they're not characters they're excuses for the killing and it's bad because the original had a decently developed central character that would've helped add suspense in the sequel. Another problem is that rather than feeling like a slasher with an invisible killer it felt like a big-budget action movie. One last problem is the abundance of CGI gore and fire. CGI fire looks terrible and CGI gore does not work in a horror film, especially one made as an excuse for bloody deaths. Er, another annoyance was the dialogue that seemingly was written by three people all in comas.
