Final Destination 2 is the one that really kick-starts the series. It establishes the fact that you shouldn't be looking for intelligence nor any three dimensional characters, instead the deaths are the thing you should be looking out for.
Indeed every one of these highly imaginative and gory deaths are a spectacle and a short film in itself which is why the Final Destination series is one of the most enjoyable and fun horror series ever made.
