Review of Filth (2013) by Ojas V — 07 Jun 2014
Filth is a depressing tale of a cop in Scotland based on a book by the person who wrote TRAINSPOTTING, and it's just as dark and hedonistic as you can imagine. It has some interesting moments, and McAvoy's is pushing himself to be as hedonistic as possible, but it's darkness turns into parody instead of telling an engaging story.
Maybe with a bit more restraint and less juvenile antics it could have been some entertaining trash, but instead it wears out its welcome quickly.
