Review of Filth (2013) by Michael J — 11 Jun 2014
As Scottish detective Bruce Robertson, James McAvoy is a mesmerizing compendium of perversions. He snorts coke, he bashes gays, he extorts an underage teen for a bj, all of this from an inspector. But Bruce is cutting out his rivals, including Drummond (Imogen Poots) and rookie Lennox (Jamie Bell), all while trying to remain in tune with reality.
Filth, directed y Jon S. Baird from a 1998 best-seller by Trainspotting author Irvine Welsh, is in your face and insanely good. Even when it flies way off the rails, McAvoy's gonzo performance will knock you sideways.
