"Film Stars Don't Die in Liverpool" is an explosively romantic film that will pull at your heartstrings, though sometimes it tries a bit too hard. However, Annette Bening and Jamie Bell have a chemistry that is simply divine.
It bolsters the film above its mediocre script, which often has difficulty maintaining momentum and a sense of unpredictability. But, more often than not, the two smashing lead performances overshadow the film's narrative slumps.
