Review of Fighting Fear (2011) by Philippe D — 02 Jul 2012
"Bra Boys", through its aggrandizement of violent macho behaviour and its propagandistic slant on the character of the Maroubra residents who it portrays, garners a fairly wide audience appeal.
This movie on the other hand portrays the two central characters as victims as well as perpetrators of violence, as immature 20 somethings who have now matured and realised the errors of their ways, as noble hard working types pursuing their aspirations to excellence in cage fighting and surfing as competitive sports. As a result it has a somewhat more weakened appeal and at the end turns out to be a relatively mundane sluggish doco targeted to MMA and surfing enthusiasts.
