(2009) Fighting.
DRAMA/ ACTION.
Channing Tatum(Dear John) stars as ex- wrestler down in his luck in terms of money, gets himself drawn to the world of underground fighting in New York City, USA with Terence Howard costars as his manager building the story by facing an old rival as it's final fight! Much of the dialogue is improvised with Tatum showcasing the same acting skills as when he was in "Dear John"!
If their is any reason to see this film, and that is to see Terence Howard's performance on this otherwise very average material. The fighting was supposed to be realistic but ends up to be short and lousy! Also, had it not been the UFC, this film might've worked. Furthermore, films such as "Any Which Way You Can" and especially "Hard Times" starring Charles Bronson are superior by comparison!
Spolier Warning.............................................
One of the main problems is that before every fight were to happen except for his last opponent, the Channing Tatum character never seems to ever having to train for anything before always duking it out, at least for his first 3 matches! He wins his first $5,000 and he doesn't even get himself a room to sleep in that he has to sponge sleeping at his manager's place!
Quite bad and unrealistic!
2 out of 4.
