Review of Fight Club (1999) by Hunter M — 23 Apr 2014
Fight Club is a smart and sophisticated film. If you leave the viewing thinking it was just a flick about random violence, you missed the point. It's basically a social experiment testing whether or not the audience will pick up onto the barrage of subtle clues before the plot twist is revealed.
It's not a masterpiece, but it is a well made film that will make you think. It's gritty at times and contains high levels of brutal violence, but for a reason. Edward Norton puts on a fantastic performance and steals the show and Brad Pitt's performance is so good you will barely recognize it's him.
Probably the most underrated film of 1999.
