Review of Fifty Shades of Grey (2015) by Kaya E — 17 Jul 2015
Read the book and the movie version to me wasn't as good. Not that it isn't good but that it can be better. I hated that ending and it makes sense now why people who have never read the book have had the reaction they do.
This is about a love story but people don't get that. They heard about the play room and judged the book by the cover. Literally. Since it's been awhile since I read the books I felt the movie left some important details out that the viewers who had never read the book needed to be aware of.
It's clear how possessive and narcissistic Grey is and that he's got a troubled past he won't share with Ana but they could've elaborated the pain he felt more when she touches him for example the way it was in the book.
It's shown how much he loves her but the movie didn't get to show the viewers how he feels he can't live without her and she can't live without him. That's what it's ultimately about and it just isn't delivering that message clearly enough to me because I asked if the person who I watched it with if they got that from the movie and they said no.
they haven't read the books so that tells me it needs to be done better.
