Review of Fifty Shades of Grey (2015) by Kevin R — 24 Nov 2015
Welcome to my world.
Anastasia Steele gets the opportunity of a lifetime when she gets to interview a young, successful, and eccentric billionaire, Christian Grey. Christian is a tormented young man due to a unique sex filled lifestyle that now leads to him living an eccentric and distant lifestyle. They instantly hit it off and Christian asks Anastasia to join him on his strange sex filled journey; however, Anastasia is limited in her sexual experience and has never felt this way for a man before. Will she cave in to Christian's sexual demands?
"I'm used to getting my own way.".
"Must be very boring.".
Sam Taylor-Johnson, director of Nowhere Boy, delivers Fifty Shades of Grey in her directorial debut. The storyline for this picture is very interesting, unique, and unpredictable. The conclusion is a bit abrupt and could have been done better, but the characters themselves are fascinating and well executed. The cast delivers very solid performances and includes Dakota Johnson, Jamie Dornan, Jennifer Ehle, Eloise Mumford, and Luke Grimes.
"I don't make love, I fuck...hard.".
I recently saw this was added to HBO/HBOGO and decided to give it a shot, especially when my girlfriend was excited to see it. We found it very entertaining and fascinating. This was far from perfect, but does have a unique feel and intensity. Overall, I recommend seeing this once if you don't mind the content.
"I heard he's gay.".
Grade: C+.
