Review of Fifty Shades of Black (2016) by Lisa R — 29 Jan 2016
The trailers were so funny, but that was about it. I laughed more during the trailers, than in the 93 minutes of the entire movie. I actually saw it early on Thurs. hoping the audience laughter would not ruin the movie for me.
I got my wish for a quiet audience. One star for Marlon/body double's nice body. One star to Hannah's roommate; she was consistently funny. There were funny moments, then preachy moments, then, was that a moral? I'm confused, wasn't this a comedy? To me, the movie also made it clear why male frontal nudity is not customary in Hollywood.
The movie also did not seem like a parody, more like "If 50 Shades Was Black." I feel like this movie was written on a bunch of napkins and random notes on phones, then, with the focus of a blind man with Tourette's and ADHD in need of a new prescription.
.. Fifty Shades of Black was born. Thankfully the ending does not seem to imply a sequel!
