In all honesty, this spoof of the Fifty Shades of Grey movie had much more appeal than the series itself. A film with such content should never take itself too seriously therefore it was ideal material for it to be parodied.
Admittedly it helps to have watched the original so you can appreciate the jokes more, but it's not essential. With strong black humour running throughout, this is littered with crude racial innuendos that only the Wayan's brothers could get away with.
