I'm a little shocked to see such negative reviews for this movie.

Not as raunchy? It's not supposed to be! It's still supposed to be sexy and hot but in a different way. The first book is all about Christian's way, his fucked up mindset, what he wants, why he wants it and his detached sex life. It was actually supposed to make you you think "I shouldn't be enjoying this because it's really messed up....but I"m kind of enjoying it anyway". The second one is all about him becoming more vulnerable and wanting Ana for who she is not what she can give him. It becomes more realistic to where you may think "okay, maybe I would be into this....MAYBE" It's supposed to have a hint of the flowery "vanilla" cliche mixed with oh I've never even heard of that "toy" before.

The first movie showed more chemistry? Ummm did we watch the same movie?!? Although I loved the novels Fifty Shades was a bust! It was so cold, awkward, and robotic. Fifty Shades Darker finally shows a little more chemistry between Dakota and Jamie! Jamie seems as if he let loose and doesn't seem so robotic throughout the film (he also worked out a little more, so that was an added bonus!) I also loved how to the actors would laugh and giggle in some of the more raunchy scenes because it makes it more "real" and relatable. Are there a few scenes that are still a tad awkward? Sure! BUT! How many of us are really breaking out the floggers, handcuffs, and playing the roles of dominants and submissives? Uhhhh not that many! (If so more power to ya!) So it's only natural for some of these scenes that seemed so touching or tantalizingly sexy while we sat behind our novels reading at all hours of the night, to play out a little awkwardly or make us a tad uncomfortable when they are happening right in front of our faces in a crowd full of people. For me, the most awkward scene wasn't even a sex scene! It was when Christian attempted to play the submissive....but once again it's one of those moments where if you're not into that stuff and you've never experienced it first hand, it throws you off a little bit.

Overall, I enjoyed this movie WAY more than the first film so kudos to James Foley for making the second part of the trilogy more interesting to watch!
