Review of Fifty Shades Darker (2017) by Josè M — 02 Jul 2017

Wow was this one absolutely terrible. Did anything actually even happen in this movie? I can't believe I just saw a movie that had from what I can recall here...no plot at all. No rising action. The weakest climax I've ever seen.

Oh and not to mention characters popping in and out mixed with terrible acting. You might think I'm talking about a porno I saw, but unfortunately most porno's have more of a plot than this film.

Strangely enough I thought the first film Fifty Shades of Grey (2015) was decent. Not a movie I would see again, but it wasn't super controversial like they were advertising it. This movie takes the plot of that film (which was thin to begin with) and then hits us with some shit for the next two hours.

Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson) is still reeling from her relationship with Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan). Then five minutes into the film they get back together. Wow. Just. Like. That. Truthfully there isn't much more to the film.

We get some background on Christian. We learn about his first lady friend Elena (Kim Basinger). We learn that he's crazy as hell and controlling. And we learn that Dakota Johnson can't act to save her damn life.

Full of some terrible sex scenes (Christian wearing pants the whole time eh?) this film just misses the mark. It's obviously setting up the final film Fifty Shades Freed (2018), but there's so much that doesn't happen in this movie that the pacing gets hurt big time with loads of time where we get some scenes with Ana just kinda talking.

..not moving plot at all. Overall, I'm not the target audience for this one. This is a film to avoid at all costs. It seriously only gets on star since the soundtrack is fire though.
