Review of Fifty Shades Darker (2017) by Shelly T — 14 Feb 2017

I was a big fan of the first fifty shades of grey movie and so I expected the second one to be similar or even better. The sex scenes in this one are so watered down. Jamie Dornan on multiple occasions keeps his pants on when they're having sex so you don't get to see much of him.

They do however show Anna quite a bit. I think they forget that their target audience is straight women. They dont have the same sexual tension as the first one and the sex scenes are rushed through like its an afterthought.

I think choosing a male to direct and write the script was a big mistake. They also went really far towards being a romantic comedy and not a sexy movie which is what made fifty shades so great to begin with.

They have several laughs throughout the movie unlike the first one. The action scenes also seemed rushed through and any kind of conflicts that arise are almost immediately solved. They tried to pack too much in from the books instead of cutting a little bit out to let the story really be told with a natural flow.

I really wish they hadn't filmed both movies so that they could switch back to the old director. Such a shame.
