Review of Fifty Shades Darker (2017) by Jak-Luke S — 23 Jul 2017
UNRATED EDITION.
Foley's film is simply a series of short unrelated scenes that have somehow come together to correlate into a feature length film. If that sounds confusing it's because it is. The film has no idea of what it actually is, or its actual purpose with so little actual context and the same scene reiterated. It's length transcends time. The film itself is a measurement of meaningless length that has yet to be defined by mankind, with pockets of absolute drowning nothingness thrown in for sure. Performances are horrible, yet both leads have a clear warm chemistry which makes it all the more disjointed in a script that treats itself and its audience like feces at the bottom of your shoe. It's editing and structure is also horrifyingly off, with a random and irrelevant action sequence that should have never seen the light of day.
