Review of Fifty Dead Men Walking (2008) by Isee D — 02 Nov 2009
For me, "inspired by true events" is supposed to make us feel like we are witnessing something rather than just watching a movie. However the only things that rang true for me in Fifty Dead Men where: Kari Skogland tries too hard to make a slick and cool film and in doing so makes one that is neither slick nor cool and just erratic. Jim Sturgess tries too hard to be an actor while Ben Kingsly does not.
Poorly acted, poorly developed story and just nowhere near the experience you can get from any one of the many IRA films which are also "inspired by true events".
