Review of Fifty Dead Men Walking (2008) by Dana A — 10 Mar 2010
Don't let Rose McGowan sudden and bad accent appearance scare you away or the ill-fitted Ben Kingsley wig distract you. This was a superb film about the IRA conflict and sure of a hell a lot better then Cate Blanchette's Vernoica Guerin.
I was also suprised by the fact this was directed by woman. Jim Sturgess no longer the man-boy seen in Across the Universe or 21 has finally transformed himself into a leading if not gritty man. With an amazing talent for acting and a too heavy-handed Irish accent.
While nothing is new about the subject matter and at times tramples into the boring terrority it keeps from going completely off the deep end by the far superior talent of Ben Kingsley. Sadly though, there wasn't enough drama and action to really reccomend this film nor was the story too complex to desire a second viewing.
However, it was still a pleasent surprise to watch to the first and only time around.
