Review of Fifty Dead Men Walking (2008) by Ethan A — 17 Jun 2011
Kari Skogland brings a nice fluid style to this film. The direction is solid, with a solid use of zooms, hand held shots and a mobile frame that keeps the film active even outside of the action scenes. The sound at times is a tad muddled although that could just be the accents, which at times make the dialogue a bit difficult to understand, although not so much that it's a major detriment to the film.
Kingsley and Sturgess both give strong performances, and Natalie Press is absolutely wonderful. Rose McGowan gets more credit than she deserves for a small role, although she does a good job with the part she has.
Fifty Dead Men Walking can be confusing at time, but the organic and slightly squirrely direction makes up for it by making you feel every blow that's dished out.
