Review of Field of Dreams (1989) by Patrick S — 26 Jan 2010
From a baseball player, there are definitely other movies that more accurately portray the lives of ballplayers (Bull Durham, for one), but Field of Dreams is the best overall baseball (and any other sport) movie out there.
Ray's mystical journey grips you until the very end, and then, you cry.
And as someone that loves the gamel, I'll never forget when Shoeless Joe tells Moonlight Graham, "Hey Rookie! You were good," because as insignificant as it may seem to someone that didn't play and doesn't love the game, it means something to have been good at THIS game.
And Tom Hanks, there IS crying in baseball.
