Review of Fido (2006) by Jonathan A — 12 Jun 2009
In an alternate entity of 1950s Americana, the world is fighting a zombie pandemic, and zombies are successfully domesticated into blue-collar servitude. So when Timmy's family adopts "Fido" to help around the house, he strikes an unusual bond with him.
Not as funny or outrageously violent as I was hoping, but the premise is ingenious and thematically sound. Atmosphere-wise, the film captures the campy nature of 50s sci-fi wonderfully, zombie film fans will enjoy it, but it's different from the usual fare and slants more on the lightweight comedy angle.
Nevertheless, I found it to be entertaining enough.
