Review of Fido (2006) by Ian V — 04 Aug 2009
This movie was...interesting. I really enjoyed the concept and the execution was...executed well enough, but I just didn't laugh too often. Though it's been done, the satire on 50s suburban life is spot-on and well written.
..but for some reason I just didn't feel it. The film's best moments come with it's darkest scene a disturbing and unexpected parody of Lassie, shot and scored exactly like an episode of the show.
I would've liked to see this concept done a little more in the style of a 50s family film, and maybe focus on the social satire some more....and even though I hate blood...it could've used a tad more.
I'd definitely recommend seeing it once and forming your own opinion; though not one of my favorites it's not bad and worth a rental.
