Review of Fido (2006) by Doug G — 04 Aug 2009
This was a pleasant flick to stumble on. I don't know how I missed it when it came out, but I'm glad I caught on.
The entire premise is in itself amusing, with zombies being tamed and domesticated via electric collars after a "Zombie War" in the 1940's. So, in the 50's, a child befriends his house zombie, and oddball hilarity ensues. It is hardly gruesome, in fact, a lot of it is implied rather than shown graphically, so the film ends up not nearly as gruesome as most zombie films. But, given its light darkness, I think that was fine. The R rating was hardly necessary, because, as previously stated, most of the violence is not actually shown, and the language is at a PG level. It maybe the most unnecessary R that I've ever heard of. Regardless, this is great satire, and I was highly entertained. Check this one out for sure.
