Review of Fido (2006) by Rebekka L — 25 Sep 2009
Probably the easiest and quickest way to describe this film is "Leave it to Beaver" meets "Shawn of the Dead". Very simple setting and premise.
For those of you that are not into a lot of gore this film is relativly very lite on the blood and guts. The reason I used "leave it to beaver" or "Spot" or any other tv shows/movies of yester year as an example is because not only does the setting reflect that time frame but so does the level of violence. Their rated R would probably have been roughly PG13 for us.
I don't want to give to much away for anyone who is thinking about watching this film but I will give you a simple once over. Basically a meteor the strikes earth brings with it the dreaded space dust that causes the reanimation of our dearly departed. The film takes place after the dreaded Zombie wars with a family whose father is never around and mother is always trying to make sure the family is keeping up with the "Jones'" or in this case the "Bottoms". And since everyone else has a "pet" zombie.... well why should they be without? Comedy and a little zombie violence ensue when our young hero of the story and friendless Timmy questions the line between a zombie being alive or dead, mindless flesh eating monster or something more and befriends his family's zombie "Fido".
I know this film has been out for a while (2006) but hey I just saw it the other day and really do not really remember ever hearing about it. It was good for some laughs and I'd recommend it if you are looking for a lite zombie film.
