Review of Fido (2006) by Troy S — 25 Feb 2010
The Best "Campy 50's SciFi Spoof".
NO SPOILER REVIEW!
If you are ready for an alternate world where space dust has made everyone dead a zombie...and the zombies are controlled with pet collars, then this movie is a breath of fresh air.
This movie is not a gore flick by any means. Fido is a zombie comedy with a completely different comedic take than Zombieland. Fido's appeal throughout is it's mocking style and social norms of 1950's Scifi. If you like spoofing Scifi, I couldn't recommend this movie more.
I found myself grinning and sometimes chuckling at the whimsical and well story lined plot. Unlike many movies imitating bad 50s films, the story was well paced, as if it had been tweaked as a stage play before it was shot.
Dylan Baker is perfectly casted and Billy Connolly proves that he can be even funnier when it can't say a word or move a facial muscle.
