Review of Fever Pitch (2005) by Shelby R — 15 Apr 2009
Despite my love for the Red Sox I was ready to despise this movie. I put off seeing it for so long because I knew I would hate it. I was pleasantly surprised however as I was quite taken by this movie.
It is a light hearted romcom. Although it is not a grand slam, it is definitely a solid triple. Jimmy Fallon, who I am normally not a fan of, was quite charming and surprisingly funny in a simple way.
It was also great that he didnt laugh at all of his own jokes. Drew Barrmore is great and she has never looked hotter then when she is wearing her Red Sox gear. It does get cheesy at the end but by that time I didnt care because they were in Fenway and using stock footage of real games.
It was also great to see the cameos of captain Varitek, Nixon, and that traitor Damon. If you are a sox fan you will thoroughly enjoy this movie and relate to it as well. If you are not, it is still a decent comedy but I think it wont be quite as enjoyable.
