Review of Fever Pitch (2005) by Brett M — 04 Jul 2012
I really liked Fever Pitch, and I usually don't watch romantic comedies. Part of the reason I like this movie is because the baseball aspect is thrown into it. I am a huge baseball fan, and I was well aware of the Red Sox's losing streak. I think those who were not aware caught on pretty quickly, just like Drew Barrymore's character. The relationship between Fallon and Barrymore is totally believable, but also sets up some good funny moments. But I think the thing I love most about this movie is that it was an accident. That's right. This was supposed to be a remake of the 1997 movie under the same name. The 1997 version had the same plot, except with a soccer team that never won. This movie was going to follow the same plotline, about the Red Sox never winning a World Series. But it just so happened that the Red Sox DID win, and they had to change the story. I think that's awesome, and just makes the movie more enjoyable. I think that fans of baseball, or romantic comedies will like this film.
