John Hughes was the undisputed king of 80's films and this was his crowning achievement. It didn't have the sentiment of 16 Candles or Pretty In Pink or the school-age statements of The Breakfast Club, but then again it wasn't trying to be any of them.
It stands out on its own and made a bonafide star out of Matthew Broderick. This movie has so much replay value it'd be on an island with me.
