Review of Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986) by Keegan K — 12 Jan 2014
Ferris Bueller's Day off was a pretty funny movie to watch. But I think it also falls plague to the idea that it is harder for me to get into movies that were released a long time ago. This was from the 80s and I know it is a classic for many people.
The concept for the movie was great. Ferris Bueller literally is able to get away with almost anything he tries to pull off. For him he skips school for a day and he takes two of his friends with him. The antagonist is the principal who is trying to actually catch Ferris Bueller in the act. But Ferris Bueller has set up a plan so wonderful, that he is able to fool his parents, friends and the school teachers.
While the movie was fun to watch, because who doesn't like the idea of a student who is able to get away with everything he is pulling off, but I can't say it was amazing. I did laugh a few times. And in general I was happy watching the film. But there wasn't anything that really stood out to me. I enjoyed it when he sang and danced in the parade to the song of twist and shout. That was awesome. But overall, I have to wonder how many more times I would ever watch this movie. Maybe one of my favorite parts of the entire film was recognizing Charlie Sheen who was playing a druggie in the movie. It was really cool seeing him outside of 2 1/2 men.
So overall it was a decent film to watch to pass the time, but it is not one I would ever buy or watch again more than once.
